Lake Bogoria National Park - located in the 310 km. north-west of Nairobi and 25 km south of Lake Baringo. The total area of the park covers 107 km2. The lake is one of the habitat of pink flamingos.

The lake Bogoria is alkaline, has a length of about 34 km and a width of 3.5 km., Depth of the lake is within 10 meters. During the colonization of the lake was named after its discoverer, the first European who saw it in 1885, the bishop of Kampala (Uganda), James Hanningtona (James Hannington).

In the coastal areas of the park fauna is very poor and that its main attraction is the lake itself Bogoria. But all the shortcomings of the park, Bogoria more than compensates. On the lake you can see a lot of pink flamingos. I can even be noted that at the time of my journey flamingos were at times more than at Lake Nakuru, which is considered the main place of their stay. The same is noted by many tourists to visit at the same time both of these lakes. In addition, the lake and the surrounding area has magnificent views itself. Not without reason, the English explorer, geologist and geographer John Walter Gregory (J.W. Gregory), traveled to the Lake Bogoria region in 1892, called it "the most beautiful place, offering breathtaking views of Africa."
Another attraction are the Bogoria geysers, at least 18 well-known. Many tourists impromptu picnic with food cooked on the hot water geysers. Well, where else can you eat so exotic, and besides, when the most beautiful natural scenery opens in front of you, which complement the huge number of pink flamingos.

Photos of Lake Bogoria

I was lucky enough to visit on Lake Bogoria in January 2013. In total, due to the tight schedule planned safari us, we were there for only a few hours, as there are only regret. Photo taken by me at Lake Bogoria can be viewed on this page.

We were a bit lucky we did not see water fountains beating from geysers.

In this geyser is quite possible to boil an egg, but also safer without the fountain.
